Ranking the Best Bond Songs: #003

#003: "You Know My Name" by Chris Cornell

From the movie that restarted it all, Casino Royale, "You Know My Name" is definitely not your typical Bond opening tune. It took a few listens for this song to grow on me, but the think that really hooked me on this song was the way the title of the song works with the events of the movie. The most popular line in every Bond film is his personal introduction: "Bond, James Bond." In Casino Royale Bond doesn't say the line until the very end, and by then we're surprised that, hey, he hasn't said that line yet! "You Know My Name" tells the viewer that after over 40 years, you know who the movie is about, he doesn't have to introduce himself, which is pretty clever for song-writing.
