IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?
So, here’s how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that’s playing (feel free to annotate, since snarky commentary is half the fun)
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don’t lie and try to pretend that you’re cool…
OPENING CREDITS: "What I Can Do For You" by Sheryl Crow. This would probably work better for waking up, but it has a good, peppy opening-credit-like rhythm to it.
WAKING UP: "Magdalena" by A Perfect Circle. Apparently I wake up in a strip joint. :O
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL: "Skinny Love" by Bon Iver. Sounds like a doomed relationship. Not a whole lot of love at school for me.
FALLING IN LOVE: "You Look Good Jack" by Hans Zimmer from the POTC:DMC soundtrack. Apparently my name is really "Jack." ;)
LOVE SCENE: "Days Gone By" by Slaughter. I hook up with an old flame?
BREAKING UP: "Hollar" by Spice Girls. Uh, oh. Noisy break-up. (I just want to clarify for the record that this is the only SG song I have.
LIFE IS GOOD: "Fall Break" by Aim. Not really upbeat, but kind of a mellow rhythm to this tune.
MENTAL BREAKDOWN: "Milk" by Garbage. A song about emptiness? Drug addiction? It's a beautiful song, and probably fits pretty well.
DRIVING: "I Dream Myself Alive" by a-ha. Yeah, it kinda has that cruising the Autobaun type beat to it. Kinda.
FLASHBACK: "No Riders" by Shannon Curfman. This should be switched with the previous song, except I'd be trying to hop a train instead of driving myself somewhere.
GETTING BACK TOGETHER: "Crossing Over" by Van Halen. Very ominous, dramatic tune. This would work perfectly for a Romeo and Juliet-style ending.
WEDDING: "Living Proof" by Bruce Springsteen. Perfect. "In a world so hard and dirty so fouled and confused / Searching for a little bit of God's mercy / I found living proof."
BIRTH OF CHILD: "Dirt Off Your Shoulder/Lying From You" by Jay-Z & Linkin Park. Uh, my kid's a pimp??
FINAL BATTLE: "Umbrella" by Rihanna. Um. Due to current events in Rihanna's life, this is just... odd? unfortunate?
DEATH SCENE: "Blackout" by Muse. Good one for this category. Take the first stanza: "don't kid yourself / and don't fool yourself / this love's too good to last / and i'm too old to dream".
FUNERAL SONG: "Nothing" by Nikka Costa. Sadly, the relationship is over. "You should've taken a look around / Before you laid that woman down / You better get a hold of yourself / Cause there's a man in you / About to die / With nothing / With nothing".
END CREDITS: "Into Your Dream" by Foreign Born. One of my favorites, and a somewhat uplifting tune for an occasionally depressing list of songs.
EDIT: Oops, forgot the FUNERAL SONG.
