I did think the prerecorded entrance shoot was unconvincing ("Hey, shouldn't there be a camera in the shot?"), but his live performance was quite impressive. Even though I don't think he actually sang more than 70% of the words and there were times where I thought I was hearing Jamiroquai, at least he didn't lip-sync the entire time.
Speaking of syncing, the 90-second, blink and you miss it, N*Sync reunion wasn't half-bad! At first the boys didn't seem to be living up to their name, but by the end they were moving as well as they did 15 years ago. I loved the cut-away to a "surprised" Taylor Swift. If I didn't know better, I would say that her look of "surprise" was almost convincing. Almost.
At least her hair was nice. Her outfit was good, too, but the lipstick was just too red for my tastes.
God, did I just make a Taylor Swift reference in consecutive posts???
There weren't a lot of cut-aways to artists I recognized on sight ("Hey, One Direction! Put the beers away, you're on camera!"), outside of Swifty, Gaga ("Nice shells!"), and Rihanna (who a think was either jamming out to the music or totally stoned, I couldn't quite tell).
Jimmy Fallon ejaculating hyperbole when presenting Justin with the Video Vanguard award (btw, you were able to bleep the first "D**k in a Box" reference MTV, but not the second "Dick in a Box" reference? Even for the West Coast feed? WTF?) was dampened by JT's humble acceptance speech and when he credited his bandmates for half of his success.
I haven't seen Robin Thicke's performance with the retarded girl, or should I say the girl with special needs? Which is more insulting? I've seen a couple of pictures and read a few headlines, but that's it. Zachary Levi tweeted her identity as Amanda Bynes, which I thought was pretty funny. Believe it or not, Sunday was the girl's father's birthday. I don't know, do you think the girl might have some daddy issues? Hmm? Maybe?
